I was born on August 14, 1984, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and just 15 days into my life, an unexpected twist occurred, marking the difficult path I would walk for many years. My illness made its presence known, and the memories of those early moments have been shared with me through the heartfelt stories of my family, who accompanied me on this unique journey. Over the years, I have undergone nearly 40 surgeries, through different stages of my life.
I started with renal treatments support, including Peritoneal Dialysis and Hemodialysis, fighting every day for a quality of life, and hoping for a compatible kidney would offer me a new chance at life. It has been a journey filled with obstacles, from infections that sometimes led to hospital stays, to countless complications resulting in additional procedures and doctor appointments. Kidney issues profoundly transform my daily life, imposing some restrictions in my life. It even challenges the maintenance of a regular work schedule, affecting every facet of your life. Then, there's the waiting for a new kidney, filled with phone calls that sometimes bear no good news.Yet, we continued to wait, facing a barrage of studies and exams year after year on our path toward a transplant.
One day, one of my brothers introduced me to The Kidney Project, an artificial kidney that could revolutionize the lives of patients like me. This project shines as a beacon of hope for thousands, representing a chance at life for so many of us waiting for a kidney. It has the potential to transform our lives, allowing us to live almost normally, free from the limitations and uncertainties we know all too well.
My message to those in similar situations is to never lose faith and hope. If The Kidney Project becomes a reality in the near future, it could change our lives, enhance our quality of living, and allow us to savor each day without restrictions. This project embodies the hope for a fuller life, and we stand ready to embrace this opportunity with gratitude and excitement. Support The Kidney Project today and share a beacon of hope with others!
